The Alexandra Murals project was initiated by former Rotarian Rex Tate, who is currently in Alexandra Hospital awaiting transfer to Darlingford UGNH.
Over a Probus lunch, Rex encouraged Anna to start the More Murals committee, 6 members including David Dimech. 3 of 4 grant applications lodged thus far have been successful and there are more in the pipeline.

Over a Probus lunch, Rex encouraged Anna to start the More Murals committee, 6 members including David Dimech. 3 of 4 grant applications lodged thus far have been successful and there are more in the pipeline.
The first project is a collaboration with CEACA, More Murals, Alexandra Community Shed and work for the dole participants, to rejuvenate he courtyard at back of CEACA to create an outdoor learning space with screens, planting and ceramic mural panels depicting aspects of Alexandra's past- flora, fauna, logging, farming, water and recreation, in 3 dimensions. Carey Grammar have made their kiln available for the project. This has been a community partnership which benefits work for dole trainees through mentoring, upskilling, training and networking. This 6 month program is due to finish Nov 2016.
A second project at the RSL is a collaboration between the RSL, More Murals, the Shire and Alexandra Secondary College. Theme- conflict in Alexandra from Boer War through to present day, featuring uniforms. ASC to incorporate project into curriculum in several subject areas - Art, History and Information Technology, and students to work in class on panels for display on north wall of RSL building
More consultation will be required, with objective of producing a tourist friendly booklet which Kinglake, Toolangi, Eildon and Yarck also featured. 30 projects are in development.
The third major project is a Dept. of Justice anti-crime initiative at the BBQ shelter in Rotary Park, where the plan is to paint murals to activate the space; a Where's Wally type search for Leadbeaters possum, and special spot for portraits. This project has also attracted a grant, auspiced by CEACA . It is hoped that this partnership between Rotary, More Murals, Open Gardens will lead to a sense of pride and ownership in the space.
