Alexandra Rotary, together with guests Past District Governor Phil Clancy, Rotary Community Leader Penny Paxman, representatives of Foundation Murrindindi, Alexandra Lions, Yea Rotary, UGFM, SES, friends and family gathered at Grant St Grocers on Wednesday June 17th for the annual changeover dinner.
In her toast to Rotary International, Sharon Fox thanked Penny Paxman for stepping up to fill Sharon’s Community Leader role following the fires which devastated the Fox property.
In his respond to the toast PDG Phil Clancy shared some insights from his experience at RI Conference in Calgary last year, namely to focus on membership and peace. To increase membership, we need to reach out to people who are capable and committed, with shared values. it is important to remember that Peace doesn’t start when the destruction stops. That is only the beginning; we need to strive for peace in o families and communities too.
John Sharwood lit the memorial candle as attendees paused to acknowledge the contributions of John Bassett and John Turner, who passed away during the year. greater resourcing.
Outgoing President John Allcock reported on the past year, as outlined more fully in the Annual Report. As a club, Alexandra Rotary raised $85,000, most of which has been distributed as vouchers for redemption locally. Local CFA brigade members were recognised at a social afternoon/evening at On Point Brewery, cohosted by Lions. The club has catered for a Potluck dinner and a Pizza night at Yarck Hall; both well attended and enjoyable.
