Monday June 20 at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Parkville Ernie Hunt handed over a cheque for $1430 to Amanda Caldwell, the Royal Children’s Hospital Fundraising  Coordinator. The money was raised from the sale of wooden bilbies to go toward assisting research into Children’s cancer.

The project  began in mid 2015 when Ernie was undergoing treatment for cancer and he met too many children who were very seriously ill with cancer.  The bibles were an instant hit and with the assistance of the Alexandra Community Shed & Eildon and District Woodworkers Guild bibles were rolling off the production line.

Ernie sought the assistance of the Rotary Club of Alexandra  to help distribute the bibles and manage the financial side of the project.  The project gathered energy during the 2016 annual Good Friday Children’s Hospital Appeal and the Rotary Easter Art Show.

In receiving the donation Amanda response was: "It was a real pleasure to meet with you both  and hear your story.”  "This is the best part of my job getting to meet our community supporters and thank you for the images of the Bilby and Angel – how clever are they! I am going to share these with my fellow colleagues". Amanda went on to say "I did take some time  to have a look at the Rotary Club of Alexandra website and also the Alexandra Community Shed Facebook page. You do such amazing work within the community, what an incredible contribution. We are very proud to have you as part of our community fundraising family".  Ernie assured Amanda that he will be back, the bilbies are on-going Rotary supported project.

Remember 100% of the selling price is a donation to Childrens Cancer Research
